Beginners Running Programme Starting in January 2015

Think you can’t run? Think Again. Glasgow FrontRunners, Scotland’s largest LGBT sports club, invite you to join us on our beginners’ running programme.

 

We’re running a 9 week course to take anyone from thinking they can’t run, or not being fit enough, to being able to run a 5k.

 

“when I joined Glasgow Frontrunners this July I had never ran before, but with the help and encouragement of the club’s jog leaders and members I managed to go from nothing to 5k within 9 weeks. In the last couple of months I’ve went from strength to strength and in November I completed my very first 10k. I’ve made great friends at the club and am now fitter than I’ve ever been.”

 

The programme follows the jogscotland beginners format and is supported by the club’s qualified jog leaders. Each week the group will be led by our friendly and qualified jog leaders who know how to best help and support you.

 

We’ll begin with gentle walking, then introducing walk/jog sessions, and we will steadily increase the distance as your strength and confidence grows. All running will be at your own pace to give you the confidence in your own ability to be able to run a 5k by the end of the programme. No previous experience is required, all we ask is that you’re medically fit and willing to try. A decent pair of trainers will also help!

 

The course will take place on Thursdays evenings at 18:15 and Sunday mornings at 10.30 (depending on demand) throughout January and February.  Sessions will last approximately 1 hour. We meet at The Arc Gym at Glasgow Caledonian University – easily accessible from the city and full changing facilities and lockers are available.

There is no charge for the course, however we ask that all participants join the club – membership from January costs £16 (£10 concession) and is valid until August 2015. This means you’ll then be able to join the club runs and keep improving your ability in a supportive environment even after the course ends.
