HOMErun 2020 raises over £2,000 for THT

Glasgow FrontRunners are delighted to announce that our virtual running event, HOMErun, which replaced our annual race, OUTrun has raised over £2,000 for the Terrence Higgins Trust (Scotland).

The event which was virtually attended by almost 350 runners across the UK, Scotland, America, Poland and beyond, challenged runners to run 5 miles (or 8km) somewhere near them in place of OUTrun’s usual home of Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow.

All profits from HOMErun were always going to be going to THT however during registration many of our runners opted to include a bonus donation. Those extra donations boosted the total amount to be £2,207.98.

Alan Eagleson - THT Scotland Hub Manager said

The funds you raise help us continue our vital work here in scotland such as campaigning to end HIV stigma, working to eliminate HIV transmission by 2030, enabling access to good sexual health for all through testing advice and education and perhaps most importantly our services for people living with HIV and other blood borne viruses such as 1-2-1 support, counselling and group work

We’re really sorry this years most unusual circumstances mean we can’t be together in person however we really do hope we can meet again soon.

"It's safe to say for HomeRUN 2020 we didn't know what to expect!! What I can say now is that even though it was virtual, you can see from the photo's and buzz that the spirit of OUTrun lives on; from the number of participants that took part and the pictures that were posted over the weekend. It's amazing the amount of money raised for THT Scotland, everyone has been so generous it only leaves me to say, THANK YOU to all who participated and took part. See you all next year!"
