Glasgow FrontRunners shortlisted as finalists for Pride Scotland Awards 2020
Glasgow FrontRunners (GFR) are excited to be shortlisted as finalists in the Sports Person/Group Category of The Proud Scotland Awards 2020. This award recognises excellence in any sport, or outstanding leadership in the encouragement of sport inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.
The Proud Scotland Awards awards are designed to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community by recognising the outstanding work and commitment of individuals and organisations within and supportive of our community in Scotland. They honour and encourage all who stand up for diversity and equality.
The awards will take place virtually on Saturday 3rd October 2020, hosted by fashion guru turned foodie, Gok Wan. The awards will be streamed on their Facebook Page with full details to be announced in the coming weeks.
GFR, who are Scotlands Largest LGBTQIA+ Sports club have been running in Glasgow for just over 10 years and offers a diverse running programme with something for everyone from couch potatoes to ultra athletes.
GFR President, Jo Jeffreys said;
"We're absolutely delighted to be a finalist for the Proud Scotland Awards this year! The awards recognise the best of the best, showcasing our nations progress and ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion. GFR is led by a phenomenal Committee, who year after year work hard to create a safe space for our LGBTQIA+ community by creating an inclusive running environment where all our members can truly be themselves.
Being recognised as a finalist is a testimony to how our club has worked to transition towards a virtual safe space, by continually remaining active and never stopping to remind our wonderful family that through GFR they are never running alone."
GFR are nominated alongside three other fantastic finalists including Aberdeen Taexali Rugby Club, Glasgow Alphas Rugby Club, and Rangers Football Club Established 1872 & Charity Foundation who have all made it to the final.
