Are the facilities suitable for non-binary and trans members?
We are an inclusive LGBTQIA+ running club and welcome non-binary and trans runners. Although not an ideal solution for non-binary runners, The ARC has two single, accessible changing/WC/shower rooms which are gender neutral. Lockers are in communal spaces. We’re working with The ARC to review this and improve the GFR experience for all our members.
What kind of runs do you offer?
Generally, every Thursday and Sunday we offer a 5K run, a 7.5K run, and a few 10K runs at different paces. Whilst we cater for all paces, you should be able to run continually for 5K. There’s further information below about our Couch to 5K programme if you can’t.
Can I just turn up?
Yes, if you’re not a member, then you can just turn up! Please head to the welcome desk on arrival. Our committee members all wear yellow armbands and our welcome ambassadors wear green armbands, so please say hello to one of us and we’ll keep you right. Your first week running with us is free, and then you can move to one of our membership options.
How do I become a member?
We have various membership options, plus we also offer a pay as you go option (on a Thursday and Sunday only).
I’m nervous about coming along.
Every member of the club knows what it feels like to be a newcomer and we understand it can make some people a bit nervous at first. We’re here to help!
Our welcome ambassadors are happy to meet newcomers at Buchanan Bus Station, one on one or in a small group, to then come along together. If you think this would be helpful for you then please contact Johnpaul McCabe (Welfare and Inclusion Secretary) at wio@glasgowfrontrunners.org
I’m worried I’m too slow.
Please don’t worry - we have qualified jog leaders on every run, plus a number of runs at different paces, so there will be a run suitable for you. Please speak to a committee member on arrival and they can help advise.
I’ve never run before.
If you don’t think you could complete a 5K run, we offer a Couch to 5K training programme every January. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information.
I haven’t got an email.
If you’ve recently signed up or bought something from our store, you may be expecting an email confirmation. We’re aware of an issue where these emails are going to people’s spam/junk folder, so please check there first. Another way to check if the transaction has gone through is to check if your payment has been taken. Rest assured if your payment has been taken then we’ve got your order. If you’re still unsure, please contact the committee at committee@glasgowfrontrunners.org
